The Scrubs Theory: Are They Really Clueless? [Hospital Playlist Analysis]

One question that keeps coming up in the Hospital Playlist community is: are people in the hospital really clueless about Jeong-won and Gyeo-ul's relationship? Well, we think they are not! Why do we say so? The answer is in the SCRUBS. This one is going to be really fun - so make sure to stick around until the end.

Our particular episodes of interest - Episode 3 of both Season 1 and Season 2 - make sure to have your Netflix ready if you want to double check.

Let's start by analyzing this scene from Episode 3 of Season 1. We will call it the S1 Seven Dwarfs Scene. From here, we derive our pattern:

We have 7 general surgeons joining Gyeo-ul on the table, expecting her decision to join one of them in the OR. Who's the odd one out? You're right! It's Ikjun! He's wearing his plain scrub suit without a white coat. What does he have here that the other doctors don't? He knows a secret that the others don't. He knows that Gyeo-ul likes Jeong-won. In fact, this very knowledge is the ace card he uses to gain Gyeo-ul's favor.

Now before we leave this scene, we should note that when Jeong-won enters, he also has his white coat on. At this point, he has no idea yet that Gyeo-ul likes him.

So that's settled then, right? PLAIN SCRUBS = PRIVY TO A SECRET

Now, let's apply the pattern to a parallel scene in Episode 3 of Season 2 that we will call the S2 Seven Dwarfs Scene:

If we accept that the pattern we have derived from S1 Seven Dwarfs Scene is true, and if we accept the above scene to be parallel to S1 Seven Dwarfs Scene, then it is logical to say that among these men in S2 Seven Dwarfs Scene, two of them knows the secret that Jeong-won and Gyeo-ul are in a relationship. No, not everyone has been fooled! Two out of the 7 surgeons feign ignorance and play along.

See that look he gives to Gyeo-ul in Episode 4 of Season 2? This time, he doesn't need to ask why because HE KNOWS!!!

And yes, Ikjun and Jeong-won are also in plain scrubs during the S2 Seven Dwarfs Scene because they also know the secret.

Still in Episode 3 of Season 1, there is another gem of a scene that parallels the S2 Seven Dwarfs Scene. In case you are one of those who have forgotten, these two men here are cousins. In a slip up (similar to Jeong-won's slip up when he opens a bottle of juice for Gyeo-ul), they use informal language, inadvertently revealing to Junwan the secret of their kinship.
